Introduction to Marist College

Marist College is located in Poughkeepsie, New York, on the east bank of the Hudson River. The school also has satellite campuses in Goshen, Monticello, Fishkill and Goshen.

Established in 1905, Marist College's roots go back to the Marist Brothers in the early 1800s. The French Catholic group bought property and named it Saint Ann's Hermitage as a training center for young men.

By 1946, the school had grown and the State of New York granted it a four-year college charter under the new name Marian College. In 1969, the school's ownership was transferred to the Marist College Educational Corporation.

Student Life at Marist College

Despite the on-campus population of around 5,000, class sizes are small and student-to-faculty interaction is highly encouraged. Students are actively involved in campus clubs and organizations, including Greek life and intramural sports.

Marist also competes in NCAA Division I athletics in the MAAC Conference. Marist is home of the Marist Institute of Public Opinion, a widely recognized political polling organization, in addition to being the location of the Center for Collaborative and On-Demand Computing and the Hudson River Valley Institute.
