Introduction to International Academy of Design and Technology
Though based in Tampa, Florida, IADT has campuses across the country in cities such as Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville, Detroit, Orlando, Sacramento, San Antonio and Seattle. Established in 1977, IADT was founded as the International Academy of Merchandising and Design by Clem Stein, Jr.
The name changed in 1999 to reflect a focus on design programs. Career Education Corporation, a leader in for-profit schools, owns and operates IADT. IADT Tampa launched IADT Online to provide a virtual campus that allows students to pursue an online degree.
Student Life at IADT
Each campus ranges in size, but all IADT campuses have drafting labs, production studios, photography studios, design studios and classrooms to help facilitate hands-on learning in the field of design. Each IADT campus is also a center for technology, with computer labs equipped for computer animation, graphic design, sound and video editing and CAD.
Students work on-one-on with quality faculty to ensure they receive attention for each piece of work. All the schools feature a portfolio review twice a year to highlight student work.
