Australian National Genomic Information Service (ANGIS)
- Online Mendelian Inheritance in Animals (OMIA)
"...is a database of the genes and phenes* that have been documented in a wide range of animal species other than those for which databases already exist (human, rat and mouse). It is modelled on, and is complementary to, McKusick's Mendelian Inheritance in Man (MIM)."
Compiled by F.W. Nicholas, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney
Canine Inherited Disorders Database
"With this database we hope to reduce the incidence of inherited disorders in dogs by providing information to owners and breeders, and to facilitate the best management possible of these conditions by providing current information to veterinarians."
CGSC: E.coli Genetic Stock Center
"The CGSC maintains a database of E.coli genetic information, including genotypes and reference information for the strains in the CGSC collection, gene names, properties, and linkage map, gene product information, and information on specific mutations."
ChemBank Initiative for Chemical Genetics
- Small Molecule Bioactives Database
"The ChemBank Small Molecule Bioactives Database is a subproject under the ChemBank umbrella and is being worked on primarily by Jeremy Muhlich, Erik Brauner, Jim Conley, and Caroline Shamu."
CroW 21 : Chromosome 21 Database at the Weizmann Institute
"...presents a user-friendly program to access integrated data related to human chromosome 21. CroW 21 is updated frequently and includes data on genes, pseudogenes, STSs and genomic sequences. The data is powered by the Unified Database with every entry linked to its individual GeneCard. We have on the agenda to link our source to the GESTALT workbench to extensively analyze the resulting."
Developmental Genome Anatomy Project (DGAP)
Objective: " To identify apparently balanced chromosomal rearrangements in patients with multiple congenital anomalies and then to use these chromosomal rearrangements to map and identify genes that are disrupted or dysregulated in critical stages of human development."
ExPASy Molecular Biology Server
"This is the ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) proteomics server of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). This server is dedicated to the analysis of protein sequences and structures as well as 2-D PAGE."
The Genetic Location Database (LDB)
"...gives locations for expressed sequences and polymorphic markers. Locations are obtained by integrating data of different types (genetic linkage maps, radiation hybrid maps, physical maps, cytogenetic data and mouse homology) and constructing a single 'summary' map."
The Genetic Epidemiology Research Group, Dept. of Human Genetics, University of Southampton
The Genome Database (GDB)
An international collaboration in support of the Human Genome Project
HOBACGEN: Homologous Bacterial Genes Database
"HOBACGEN is a database system that contains all the protein sequences of bacteria organized into families. It allows one to select sets of homologous genes from bacterial species and to visualize multiple alignments and phylogenetic trees. Thus HOBACGEN is particularly useful for comparative genomics, phylogeny and molecular evolution studies on bacteria."
Human Gene Mutation Database (HGMD)
"...represents an attempt to collate known (published) gene lesions responsible for human inherited disease. This database, whilst originally established for the study of mutational mechanisms in human genes (Cooper and Krawczak 1993), has now acquired a much broader utility in that it embodies an up-to-date and comprehensive reference source to the spectrum of inherited human gene lesions."
University of Wales College of Medicine - Institute of Medical Genetics
Index to Plant Chromosome Numbers (IPCN)
"...aims to extract and index original plant chromosome numbers of naturally occurring and cultivated plants published throughout the world. A committee of voluntary contributing editors, located in various parts of the world, reviews sets of serial titles assigned to them and returns the information to the editors for collation in the Index."

International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB)
National Center for Biotechnology Information
- Entrez Popset
"A PopSet is a set of DNA sequences that have been collected to analyse the evolutionary relatedness of a population. The population could originate from different members of the same species, or from organisms from different species." - Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO)
"GEO is our effort to build a gene expression data repository and online resource for the retrieval of gene expression data from any organism or artificial source."
NLM Gateway Search
"The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, HSRProj, MEDLINEplus and DIRLINE."
National Library of Medicine
OMIM : Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man
"...OMIM is now incorporated into NCBI's Entrez system and can be queried using the same approach as the other Entrez databases such as PubMed and GenBank...This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information, pictures, and reference information. It also contains copious links to NCBI's Entrez database of MEDLINE articles and sequence information."
