Curtis Botanical Magazine
"William Curtis (1746-1799) was a trained pharmacist living in London, whose greater interest was the study of flora and insects. Mr. Curtis maintained a large garden where he grew beautiful exotic plants. These images are taken from The Curtis Botanical Magazine, which William Curtis began publishing in 1787. This digital presentation represents one thousand eighteen images, their information records and over two thousand four hundred forty-one related title pages from the first 26 volumes. The entire print collection of 164 volumes is housed at the National Agricultural Library in Beltsville, Maryland.

The DPD contains virtually no plant data as such, but serves to put you in contact with the projects that do. Most, but not all, entries concern databases about higher plants. Roughly speaking, there are three kinds of database: Taxonomic databases, with systematic information on families or genera, or for Flora projects ; Collection catalogues, usually of herbaria ; DELTA datasets. "The genus Leucaena (largely native to Mexico and central America), has attracted widespread attention for its usefulness as a multipurpose plant throughout the tropics and subtropics. The most widely grown species (L. leucocephala) has spread throughout the tropical world, being a valuable source of fodder and fuel. In the past two decades, there has been increasing interest in the other species in the genus.
