U.S. Presidential Election and the Internet

Congrats to Obama for a great victory and for energizing many of us to reflect once again on the ideals of the United States .

With each passing election the Internet increases its influence both positively and negatively.  According the the Pew Internet and Public Life Project nearly a quarter of Americans used the Internet as their major source of information on the 2008 presidential campaign almost doubling that from 2004. The use of web video in the 2008 election was widespread and 13% watched at least one political speech online. The greatest influence though was the ease of making donations online. Obama received donations from over 3 million individuals.

It will very interesting to see the what new influence the Internet will enjoy in 2012. Any ideas?
