To continue sharing pointers to the blogs I read on a regular basis, I thought for this week, I would cast the spotlight on Vicki Davis's award-winning Cool Cat Teacher blog.

Vicki is a secondary school teacher in Georgia, USA who gave up a pretty high-powered career to take up teaching. She started blogging a short while after I did and very quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the edublogosphere. She looks on teaching as 'a noble calling' and sets out to impart more than just the requirements of the curriculum.

She is one of the most active people I know in the use of social media, and is to be found in many online spaces, including Facebook and Twitter.  She takes her responsibilities towards her students very seriously. I often wish my own children could have a teacher like her!

Having been subjected to her fair share of cyberbullying and e-abuse, Vicki goes to great lengths to teach her students responsible digital citizenship and netiquette. She doesn't shy away from the dangers to be encountered online. Instead, she meets them head on and addresses them openly and candidly.

She has undertaken several projects designed to extend her teaching space beyond the four walls of her classroom. To this end, she launched the flat classroom project, which provides her students the means to collaborate with others from around the world. Her many other projects and activities can be accessed via links on her blog.

Vicki often shares hints and tips based on things she has learned along the way. Her passion and enthusiasm is evident in every post.
