Michelle Obama has taken strides to lift the gloom on the nation’s students as well as making the White House more accessible by visiting a public high school in down town DC on Thursday.

Accompanied by a posse of her female peers, that included singers, Alicia Keys and Sheryl Crow, actress Alfre Woodward, former astronaut Mae Jemison and General Ann Dunwoody, the first lady urged the students to reach for the top.

Speaking to the group of students, she said, “You guys are future leaders of this nation. I wanted an A...I wanted to be smart, I wanted to be the person who had the right answer.”

Michelle’s Obama’s visit was the prelude to a career day, designed to highlight the successes of women today. She concluded by saying, “Our job is simple: Just be open, be honest, be real, be clear and have fun…and our job now is to give back and to keep giving back.”
