"The last few years a lot of monthly mean climate data has become available for research: station data (GHCN - (dead link)), gridded observations of temperature and sea-level pressure (CRU) and precipitation (NCDC - (dead link)), and a 40-year reanalysis (NCEP/NCAR). This site gives the opportunity to explore these data and the relationships between them. This may lead to more insight how the climate system changes on seasonal timescales, and empirical statistical forecast models. The data are probably not good enough to explore decadal or longer trends."

Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) - (dead link) "The Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) Index is defined as the leading principal component of North Pacific monthly sea surface temperature variability (poleward of 20N for the 1900-93 period).
